Dr. Johannes has a background in Northern BC as he grew up in Prince George and has in his childhood spent many summers and winter holidays in Mackenzie prior to 1995 when he at that time had family living in Mackenzie.
Dr. Johannes graduated from high school at PGSS in Prince George, and in 2008 returned to post-secondary at CNC in Prince George and later earned a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UNBC in 2013. He began Dentistry studies in Vancouver in 2015 and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UBC in 2019 with the Prince George District Dental Society Scholarship Award.
Since 2019, Dr. Johannes worked as a dentist in many small rural communities including Alert Bay, Queen Charlotte City, Fort St. James, Kitwanga, Moricetown, Smithers, Houston, Burns Lake, Mcleod Lake as well as Prince George, his hometown. More recently, he is currently working one week per month in the First Nations communities of Anaham Reserve and Xeni Gwet-in (Nemiah Valley) in the Chilcotin area West of Williams Lake, which are communities he greatly enjoys serving.
Previous to working in Dentistry, Dr. Johannes worked for Canfor Isle Pierre Division (1997-2006) and worked on many residential house and commercial construction projects including numerous start-to-finish house construction projects in the Prince George area. Dr. Johannes has completed many welding and machinist projects in BC and Alberta as well as overseas in Finland. More recently he lives on an off-grid 160-acre farm location in BC, which he greatly enjoys spending time working and living at. Dr. Johannes has a class one commercial truck license, and in his spare time, he enjoys hauling logs to the local Prince George sawmills and pulp mills with his logging truck and hayrack trailer or being on standby for summer fire-fighting equipment lowbed hauling tasks. He has been active personnel on several wildfires in recent years, running a feller-buncher and excavator and many other equipment pieces cutting fire-guard in the Prince George forest district. In his spare time, he treasures the moments spent at home cooking and playing the piano, improvising music on the piano for his lovely wife, spending time hiking in the outdoors, and running his sawmill to make more material for his current and future woodworking projects!
Dr. Johannes is excited to have the opportunity to serve as a dentist for Mackenzie BC to bring dental services back to this great community!
